There are many things that a family living in a home with a septic system can do to keep the septic system in good working order.
Some of those things are obvious, but others are not. Septic systems can be sensitive and must not be misused. To be sure you take care of your septic system and prevent future problems, pay attention to the following recommendations:
● Never install a garbage disposal. And if your home is equipped with a garbage disposal, do not use the garbage disposal.
● Do not use over the counter drain cleaning gels or solutions
● Do not use “flushable” wipes. These products market themselves as flushable, but they can wreak havoc on septic systems and municipal water systems alike.
Signs Of A Potential Problem With Your Septic System
Good maintenance can help you avoid major issues, but there are some signs that can indicate the need for help from the professionals at Custom Septic. Some of the more common signs include:
● Unpleasant odors coming up through pipes and drains. This could indicate an imbalance in the chemical composition of your septic tank. You should never have fetid odors emanating through your sinks and drains.
